The first wheelchair accessible small MPV

The market share of electric vehicles is steadily increasing throughout Europe every year.

There is an electric variant available for taxis, company buses or passenger cars for every target group.

Unfortunately, this is not the reality for people with reduced mobility and who are bound to use a wheelchair. The choice for a fully electric vehicle with which they can be transported equally and safely from A to B was limited to the larger segment of vans.

Until now, the Toyota Proace City, Citroën Berlingo, Peugeot Rifter and Opel Combo were popular cars to convert into wheelchair accessible vehicles. Partly thanks to the small dimensions and passenger car look and feel of the vehicle. These models were often preferred.

Unfortunately, the manufacturer has decided to stop the supply of both the Petrol and Diesel models with immediate effect. The Toyota Proace City will remain available with a petrol engine, but the Peugeot Rifter, Opel Combo and Citroën Berlingo will only be available as an electric variant.

An understandable choice by manufacturer Stellantis, but this forces people who depend on a wheelchair-accessible vehicle to switch to a larger segment of vehicles when they are in the market for a new vehicle.
